An Ordinariate is effectively a Diocese within the Catholic Church, except that it is not defined by geographical boundaries but by membership. The English Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham was set up to offer pastoral care to former Anglicans entering into full communion with the Catholic Church. The person with pastoral care for the English Ordinariate is Monsignor Keith Newton, pictured here with Pope Francis.
St Mary’s is the home of the Ordinariate in Leicestershire. Our worship and life reflects much of the Anglican tradition whilst still recognisably Catholic. We hope that it will be a place where others will also hopefully feel at home - an ecumenical endeavour, developing friendships with Christians of other traditions, building on the good relations with other local churches and seeing St Mary’s thrive as part of the local community.
We seek to be a vibrant community where all can find a welcome and a place.
All are welcome to worship with us.
